BAKED APPLES

A deliciously different dessert! Treat the kids to a "healthier" sweet after
dinner. Serves 6.
Ingredients:
6 medium apples (Golden delicious or Granny Smith)
1 cup (250 ml) brown sugar
1 teaspoon (5 ml)
CINNAMON (GROUND)
½ teaspoon (2.5 ml)
CLOVES (GROUND)
1 ml salt
2 tablespoons (30 ml) butter/margarine
1 cup (250 ml) Rooibos Tea
Method:
- Preheat oven: 180oC.
- Rinse apples and remove core. Arrange in a baking tray.
- Combine sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Mix thoroughly.
- Stuff apples with the sugar mixture and heap. Sprinkle remaining sugar mixture in the
baking tray.
- Dot apples with butter/margarine. Pour the rooibos in the baking tray.
- Bake the apples 30 40 minutes until tender, basting occasionally with the
rooibos.
- Serve hot or cold; topped with fresh whipped cream, ice cream or custard.
Tips:
- Be sure to serve each guest a generous spoonful of basting with the apple.
- Substitute apples with several small/baby apples ideal for buffets.
